*Thank you to L’Occiatne for partnering with us for this post. As always opinions are my own.
Can you guys believe it’s only 16 days till Christmas? Every single year I feel like it just goes by so fast. This reminds me to slow down, be present and enjoy all the little moments. Especially those moments that mean so much to the boys, like opening our advent calendars together every morning. The boys wake up super early eager and curious to see what the new day’s slot has for us.
The L’Occitane Advent Calendar is one of our favorites this year. Mostly because we are obsessed with their hand creams. Evan has already called dibs on anything that has the word”moisturizing” on it. The kid has a thing for luxury hand and body creams for sure.
Another thing you may not know about Evan is the fact that he has been losing his eyesight at a very fast rate. Yep, a year ago Evan was diagnosed with Myopia on both eyes. Nearsightedness.
His myopic eyes are longer in the back than a normal eye would be. The increased length causes images to fall too far in front of the back of the eye. This is what makes things at a distance difficult for him to see. The rate of progression of his myopia and the rate of elongation of the eyeball (the rate his eye is growing) was faster than it should be. This pretty much meant that he was losing his eyesight at a faster rate than he should for his age.
We are very lucky to have the means to treat his condition and so we wasted no time. His optometrist ran some tests and decided that Evan should start wearing a corrective contact lens that prevents his eye from growing too fast. By doing this, the rate of progression of his myopia can be reduced. Slowing the rate at which the iris grows helps slow down his eyesight loss.
After a year of treatment I am happy to report that Evan’s eyes have responded to the treatment and we have seen no progression in the eye growth nor has his prescription changed, which means his eyesight hasn’t deteriorated one bit in the last 15 months.
I feel so fortunate that I get to share this story of success with you all. And at the same time feel very sad that so many children around the world, especially in third world countries cannot afford something as simple as an eye checkup or even treatment.
Another reason why we are loving the Signature L’Occitane Advent Calendar (not pictured) is the cause they are supporting during the holiday season. L’Occitane is partnering with UNICEF in the fight against preventable childhood blindness. With each purchase of their Signature Advent Calendar (not pictured), L’Occitane will help UNICEF provide Vitamin A supplements to children in the fight against preventable childhood blindness.* How amazing is this?!

This advent calendar is also a great gift idea for any beauty lover on your list. It’s a great way to try so many (24 to be exact) of L’Occitane’s great products that you may not have otherwise purchased separately. And can I just say how wonderful this advent calendar smells! Oh my goodness just having it sit in my room makes the entire room smell amazing. Stop by your local L’Occitane store and check it out, I doubt you will leave empty handed;)
