When I think of a fall outfit I instantly think neutral colors, cozy knits and lots of plaid. And by plaid I don’t mean flannels. Eww. There’s just something about flannels I can’t get past.
Here’s the thing with plaids though, like any other busy print, the size and color of it can make a huge difference. Subtle plaids in neutral colors are so chic and can be treated as a neutral print during the cooler months. Whereas big and bold colorful plaids can get tacky real fast.

Here’s 5 Tips for how to wear plaid this fall
Stick with subtle plaids – We all know that less is more so stick with plaids that are less obnoxious. I prefer plaids & tartan over buffalo print which tends to be too loud and a bit basic. Even windowpane plaid is 10x chicer that buffalo.
Stay with season color scheme – Since we are talking about fall dressing, opt for neutral plaids. Think browns, tans, creams and grays. Even your typical green and navy blue with a touch of red is cute for anything Christmas. You definitely don’t want to be in a pink plaid in November.
Don’t be afraid to do plaid on plaid – When done right, plaid on plaid can be super chic. A matching set is always a yes.
When in doubt, throw on a cozy sweater – There’s nothing a cozy sweater can’t fix during the cooler months. Am I right? Plaid can be a bit tricky if you’re not used to it. Throwing on a chunky sweater with your plaid is as obvious as the LBD when you have nothing to wear. Its basically what you have to know about how to wear plaid 😉

I absolutely love this outfit. Super chic and minimal without being basic. This is definitely something I’d wear to a Thanksgiving dinner with family or friends. It’s super chic, comfy and very fall. Plus it doubles as a cute office look as well. Don’t you just love versatile looks!
