On Sunday morning the boys & I headed to the McGovern Centennial Gardens. It’s one of our favorite places to visit and the boys had been asking to go for a few weeks now. We love walking through the veggie garden in the spring when you can find anything from tomatoes, carrots, peppers & all kinds of herbs. Since it’s cold out now, there weren’t really any veggies to be seen but we did encounter a tree full of Monarch butterflies. Erick took lots of cute shots and the boys brought a caterpillar home in hopes of seeing the Metamorphosis soon.
The park is such a great place to visit year round. They have so much green space for picnicking and for kids to run around free. My favorite part is probably the trail that takes you around the entire park. Along the way you’ll find a rose garden, lots of outdoor succulents + a variety of Agave plants. There’s a gorgeous curly leaf agave, which I can’t find a name for, that I absolutely love! I seriously googled it every wich way and cannot find it. I included a picture below, so if you know the name, drop it in a comment below;) The gardens are also the perfect background for family & engagement shoots. We saw a handful of families and their photographers that day.
The boys’ favorite part is probably the waterfall which you have to climb your way up to. Really wish I would’ve included a picture of it but Erick & I were more concerned about Mason running up the hill so wildly than getting a shot. We walked, took pictures and just enjoyed each others company for about two hours then finished off with yummy popsicles from Steel City Pops. We are seriously crazy for getting frozen treats in cold weather. We all had frozen cheeks and lips at the end lol. I so wish I would’ve gotten more pictures with the boys but they refused to take any. Oh well guess you can’t win them all.
