This past weekend we hit the road for some family fun in Austin. It was totally unplanned. We actually woke up on Sunday around 7am and decided we should drive up there for an adventure, like the boys say. Erick isn’t one for adventures. He’s actually a planner and likes to know exactly where we will be going, what hotel we’ll be staying in, etc. Evan and I are the complete opposite. We’re always up for getting up and going somewhere in the spur of the moment. We like to see and explore new places without having a clear plan at all. Mason is pretty much just neutral and is there for the fun (and the food lol).
First thing we did when we arrived was grab lunch at Flower Child. It’s our absolute favorite place to eat when in Austin. They serve fresh, organic yummy food + they are incredibly pet friendly which makes me love them even more. If you’re looking for things to do in Austin, TX, you for sure must eat here. From there we stopped by Zilker Park with hopes of renting a kayak but the heat was SO intense we decided to leave that for another visit. The heat was unbearable and although Evan and Mason were pretty good sports we decided to just shoot a few pics and get back in the car. Hello AC!!!
We drove and explored for a while then ended up at the Hope Outdoor Gallery. The boys LOVED it there. I don’t know what it was about it but they just didn’t want to leave the place. Evan loved it so much and still hasn’t stopped talking about it. We snapped a few pics hung out for a while longer then finished off with some ice cream from one of those ice cream trucks on the side of the street. Aren’t those the best?
We drove a lot but walked even more. Although the boys wanted to keep exploring, Erick and I decided to wrap it up and drive back home. The heat made it like 10 times more exhausting than it should’ve been. As always we had the best time and already can’t wait to go back. Next time I am for sure stopping at the new Tiny’s Location;) Also, if you’re living in Austin or know the city more than we do, let me know of any upcoming Austin events. We kinda want to stop by during the holidays for the tree lighting and the trail of lights. But we shall see.
Do you guys remember this denim mini from my stories? I actually loved the sort of relaxed fit & longer length. Fits like a pair of boyfriend shorts would, but in skirt version. Makes sense? Trying to stay patriotic for Fourth of July weekend, I paired it with a navy cami which ended up being the best idea for the heat. A red neckerchief and these adorable Skechers floral embroidered sneakers. I am also glad I brought my fedora just in case because it saved my face from getting sunburn. Well that and sunblock of course.
The boys were super excited that I let them wear their new Skechers shoes as well. Mason was just thrilled to be matching Evan because of course everything Evan does he wants to do as well. I’ve never liked matching my boys, and Evan actually hates it too haha. Sometimes you just gotta let little brother have his way. I absolutely loved Erick in his casual get up. I may be biased but he’s the cutest! And can you believe his sneakers are also Skechers? They actually have the cutest styles for men right now. And these were perfect on him.
Thank you for stopping by. Have a great holiday weekend!
