A Casual Weekend Look + An Update On Homeschooling Mason

fun casual weekend lookcasual weekend lookHappy Labor Day! Whether you are out barbecuing, hanging out with family + friends, or even just catching up on work, I hope you’re having a good one;) I am currently catching up on a few emails then we will be out the door!

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’ve been loving homeschooling Mason. Sure it’s been challenging for the both of us, but already I feel such a special bond building between us. I feel like we have finally settled on a teaching/learning style and it’s making our days run smooth. Typically I start doing blog work between 8:30-9am after I’ve dropped Evan off at school and had breakfast with Mason. I work for about an hour and a half then start Mason’s math & phonics lessons. We work for about two hours straight, break for lunch and either pick up on his reading after, if he isn’t too tired. If he is, we do our reading before bed instead.

It’s been only four weeks and already Mason is a level one reader! A few things he can do independently now are: solve single digit addition, identify & use a number line, count to 100 & count by 10’s. Knows all the shapes (including hexagons & octagons) and how many sides and corners each one has. Can read a calendar, can identify things like “the 4th Sunday of the month” using ordinal numbers, and can tell time using both analog & digital clocks.

Everyday is different and some more challenging than others but I feel incredibly lucky to be able to do this, because with God, everything is possible♥

I wore this fun casual weekend look for church on Saturday. The bell sleeves and crochet detail on this peasant top are the cutest and are such a fun way to upgrade your “basic white tee” like I talked about here.

My accessories (bag, choker & sunnies) are all from Charming Charlie and all under $40! It’s insane how CC is stepping up their game. I am seriously so impressed with their collections lately and want just about everything.

These leopard print flats were such a score! Under $20 and come in so many colors including nude, red & floral print. There’s a direct link right there to the right → in case you want to shop them;)
