Can you guys believe summer break is almost over? Feels like just yesterday we were wrapping up third grade with Evan. And now here we are picking out back to school shoes at Shoe Carnival!
I am not even mad at it though. I love to see the excitement in Evan’s face when we go back to school shopping. This year will be even better because Mason starts Kindergarten! I can’t wait to start this new chapter in our lives even if it’s a little different. Evan will be going back to his regular school & Mason will be homeschooled. We would’ve loved to home school both boys. After 5 years tought, Evan isn’t quite ready to be pulled out of public school. He will be allowed to finish his elementary years in public school. Then hopefully transition into homeschooling at the start of 6th grade.
For now, I will cherish every moment at home teaching and shaping my little M. Into the smart, responsible, loving young man we hope for him to become in the future. I love that I will get to spend the better hours of the day with him. And that I won’t only get to see him for rushed-one-hour intervals between school & baseball.
Mason gets new school shoes too 😉
Mason won’t be heading to an actual campus on the 1st day of school. But we still want to make sure he gets the back to school shopping experience. He feels the same excitement for new school supplies, clothes & shoes as Evan does. One thing we weren’t quite prepared for though was the amount one spends on these things when it’s x2. Luckily, we stopped by Shoe Carnival to let them choose their back to school shoes. I even got to pick a pair for myself.
Mason has an obsession with running/athletic shoes, so he obviously picked out the coolest ones he could find. He’s literally counting down the days for “school” to begin so that he can finally wear them. So adorable! Evan on the other hand sticks to his classics and picked out Chuck Taylor All Stars. I love to see how different they are, both in personality and style. Of course I am not going back to school. But I am taking on the huge responsibility of being both teacher & mom. And hey, if that doesn’t mean I deserve a comfy pair of sneakers then I don’t know what does. I picked up these super comfy Sperry Pier View sneakers. They are memory foam and will totally make busy days easier on my feet. Plus they are super cute and trendy.
With one kid in public school & the other at home, I honestly don’t know what this new school year will be like for any of us. But it’s the journey that counts and I have a feeling it’s going to be a good one.
