Autumn in Houston is a lot like a summer day in say, New York. Although we Houstonians do experience the same excitement for everything fall, we often don’t get to wear all the fab coats and OTK boots until maaayyybe December. We do however enjoy a few days of cooler temperatures between late September and early November, this allows us to play around with lighter pieces like hats, scarfs and jackets.
I call this my ‘Houston Autumn Uniform’ because it’s the perfect mix of warm and cool weather pieces. Like I mentioned above, we don’t really get cold days until maybe December, so a little number like this is what gets me through that in-between awkward stage mother nature goes through here in the south.
If the weather is similar where you are, then a cute silk dress paired with sandals is perfect for strolling around town during the day when the sun is still hot as can be. I always make sure to bring a light jacket like this one for when the sun sets and it gets cool. Adding a wool fedora screams FALL so I almost always throw one on (if not a scarf) for a finishing touch. I guess the fun part about experiencing this type of weather is that we get a little extra time to wear our summer dresses & sandals without completely freezing our toes off, right?
