Three Easy Tips To Upgrade Your Basics

DSC_2521 DSC_2523It’s no secret that a white tee & blue jeans are the ultimate must-have basics. They go with pretty much everything, are easy to wear and look good on everyone, but sometimes you just want a little more…

I walked into J.Crew at Market Street-The Woodlands looking for something minimal and comfy but a little more chic & femenine than the usual tee & jeans combo. And after trying on what seemed like the entire store, I finally have a new take on basics!

Here’s three easy tips to upgrade your basics:

 • Look for details– I went for this cute white linen tank. The fringe detail on the hem, bust, and straps gives my outfit a more polished & feminine look. It’s still as comfy and fresh as a white tee would be but with a lot more character.

Pay attention to fit – I cant’t stress this enough! The fit of your jeans (or pants) will always make or brake your entire look. For the jeans I tried to go for a pair with minimal distress and a great fit for more of a classic touch. These are the ‘Toothpick’ fit and  they are seriously amazing!

Add a fun focal point– Although I do like to wear it once in a while, I’m not a huge fan of big jewelry so I kept it neutral with my bag & hat and finished it off with these adorable pom pom sandals which also served as the focal point. Definitely a new take on basics!

Do you have any tips or tricks when it comes to making your basics pop? I’d love to hear them!

Wrap Skirt

how to style a wrap skirt Chic wrap skirt Look who’s back! So we tackled the first day of school yesterday and survived. Evan is totally the kid who absolutely LOVES school so you already know he had a good one;) How did it go for you and your little ones? Hope it was more than they expected and that you, mama, enjoyed the few hours of quiet time around the house, haha.

This wrap skirt is as chic as a wrap skirt can get plus it has that “wear now & later” factor which is always a plus. I love the way it paired with this one-sleeve top, perfect for a summer date night! It would also be super cute with a silky tank, a leather jacket & pumps (for fall) or even with an oversized sweater like this one & cute booties.

New York 2016: A Recap Of My First Trip To NYC

my first trip to nyc my first trip to nyc | Rockefeller Center

Happy Friday!! I have been so busy this week getting everything ready for Evan to go back to school and already I feel like I need a vacation, haha! Oh how I miss NYC…

Anyways, here are some pictures & a mini video vlog of my recent (and first) trip to New York City. It was truly as magical as I had imagined since I was a child and I can not wait to go back! This time with my three guys though♥…Huge thanks to Ego Soleil for flying us out there and for having us be part of their SS 2017 Launch. It was truly an amazing night.

My first trip to NYC Carrie Bradshaw style

Naturally I had to get a ‘Carrie Bradshaw” shot of me casually crossing while pretending there aren’t a few taxis ready to run me over!

Fashion Inspired Desserts with Wink by Erica

Fashion Inspired Desserts for Your Next Party

Happy Hump Day everyone!! I’m currently driving myself crazy trying to finish up some blog work, house work and starting the packing process for NYC tomorrow!! Seriously too excited! Say a little prayer for me so I won’t lose my head, haha. And also be sure you’re following along on Instagram, Snapchat (daily_craving) for everything NY tomorrow, Friday & Saturday! I will be snapping my little hear off;)

This is perhaps one of my most favorite collaborations to date. If you know me then you know fashion & pastries are pretty much what describes me. When Erica from Wink by Erica reached out with this fabulous idea about fashion inspired desserts I was like Uh-Yeah! I sent over three of my favorite looks for her to grab inspiration from and recreate these amazing desserts.
Fashion Inspired Desserts for your next party

Hanging By The Pool

This is by far my favorite, I love the tropical colors go this and the overall summer feel of it. Erica made orange, pink, teal & aqua macaroons inspired by the colors on my bathing suit. And since she went with the whole “hanging by the pool” theme, she infused them with a little kick, if you know wha I mean. Although I don’t drink, these were SO good!

• Teal – Piña Colada – fresh pineapple infused with Malibu coconut rum
• Aqua – Spiked Blueberry lemonade – fresh blueberry infused with Deep Eddy’s Lemon Vodka
• Pink – Strawberry Margarita – fresh strawberry infused with Patron, Lime, and Salt
• Orange – Mango Moscato – fresh mango infused with fruity moscato

Fashion Inspired DessertsClassic & Feminine

Ok a blue velvet naked cake y’all…need I say more?! For this one, inspired by the striped skirt pattern, Erica baked a blue velvet naked cake. She though the look was very classic and feminine and brought those elements in the overall dessert. The white roses add the feminine touch from ruffle top, while the canvas birchwood heart brings in the tan, natural touches from the bag and shoes.

If you ask me I think she totally nailed it. And don’t even get me started on how delicious this cake was. Anyone who knows me on a personal level knows that I can literally live of off cakes, cookies & pretty much any kind of pastry;)

Fashion Inspired DessertsFierce & Modern

I love that she called this look fierce, rawwwr! Since this is a bit of a more modern look, she went with sugar cookies and pyramid chocolates. I love the way she captured that simplicity yet fierceness of this look. Incorporated the right colors with the color blocked cookies and added the modern touch with the pyramids. She is truly a talent!

Be sure to check her out and consider her for your next party, get together, etc. She will not disappoint and I guarantee you’ll be begging for more of these delicious treats!

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you liked this post as much as I loved working on it!

Doing Back To School A Little Different This Year

*Shoe Carnival provided me with product and compensation. The opinions I have shared about the products are my own.Doing Back To School A Little Different | Shoe Carnival Back to school shoes | Converse All Star | Boys Shoes

Can you guys believe summer break is almost over? Feels like just yesterday we were wrapping up third grade with Evan. And now here we are picking out back to school shoes at Shoe Carnival!

I am not even mad at it though, I love to see the excitement in Evan’s face when we go back to school shopping. This year will be even better because Mason starts Kindergarten! I can’t wait to start this new chapter in our lives even if it’s a little different. Evan will be going back to his regular school & Mason will be homeschooled. We would’ve loved to home school both boys but after 5 years, Evan isn’t quite ready to be pulled out of public school. He will be allowed to finish his elementary years in public school, then hopefully transition into homeschooling at the start of 6th grade.

For now, I will cherish every moment at home teaching and shaping my little M into the smart, responsible, loving young man we hope for him to become in the future. I love that I will get to spend the better hours of the day with him, and that I won’t only get to see him for rushed-one-hour intervals between school & baseball.

Although Mason won’t be heading to an actual campus on the first day of school, we still want to make sure he gets the full-on back to school shopping experience and feels the same excitement for new school supplies, clothes & shoes as Evan does. One thing we weren’t quite prepared for though was the amount one spends on these things when it’s x2. Luckily, we stopped by Shoe Carnival to let them choose their back to school shoes and I even got to pick a pair for myself.

Mason has an obsession with running/athletic shoes, so he obviously picked out the coolest ones he could find. He’s literally counting down the days for “school” to begin so that he can finally wear them. So adorable! Evan on the other hand sticks to his classics and picked out Chuck Taylor All Stars for the fourth consecutive year. I love to see how different they are, both in personality and style. I of course am not going back to school, but I am taking on the huge responsibility of being both teacher & mom, and hey, if that doesn’t mean I deserve a comfy pair of sneakers then I don’t know what does. I picked up these super comfy Sperry Pier View sneakers. They are memory foam and will totally make busy days easier on my feet, plus they are super cute and trendy.

With one kid in public school & the other at home, I honestly don’t know what this new school year will be like for any of us. But it’s the journey that counts and I have a feeling it’s going to be a good one.
